2021 Charity Art Auction, April 1, 2021-July 2, 2021

St. Luke’s, an architectural landmark with a 150-year history in the heart of the Village of East Hampton, will be exhibiting works from Thomas Shelford and several other artists as part of its annual charity auction to benefit the parish. Works will be auctioned online and exhibited from April through July in Hoie Hall.

Grenning Gallery maintains a collection of monotype prints for sale by Thomas Shelford in an ongoing exhibition of landscapes that follow in the tradition of 19th-century Tonalists such as Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. The smoky, atmospheric style of Tonalism is celebrated in this series of hand-drawn monotype prints by Thomas Shelford and other artists, including Kevin Sanders, Colin Berry, Jimmy Sanders, and bronze sculpture by Chad Fisher.

Thomas Shelford will be donating a monotype print which will be auctioned by Grenning Gallery of Sag Harbor NY at this event.

The Nature Conservancy’s 31st annual benefit celebration for Mashomack Preserve will honor and celebrate Janet Gay Hawkins’ commitment to this special place — Mashomack: “Where They Go by Water.” It will take place on Saturday, July 26 under the big tent on the Preserve’s Manor House lawn. This year’s sold-out event is executed with the help of nearly 150 volunteers and is the single largest fundraiser for Mashomack Preserve. This year, Mashomack trustees Judy Card and Jim Colligan will be the dynamic auctioneering duo for the live auction.

Proceeds from the auction support Mashomack’s continued conservation efforts, scientific research and broad educational programs that connect people with nature, and help ensure the preservation of this special place for generations to come.

Annual Member's Exhibition, March 26, 2014 - April 20, 2014

The prestigious Salmagundi Club, located at 47 Fifth Avenue, is pleased to announce the opening of its Annual Members' Exhibition. This year, in a rare occurrence, the Club's bravura display of fine art will be installed throughout SCNY's 1854 landmark building.

The Salmagundi Annual Member's Exhibit will begin previewing Wednesday, March 26, and open on Thursday, April 3. The exhibition will continue through Sunday, April 20. The art can viewed Monday through Friday, 1-6pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 1-5pm. Viewing hours will be extended through 10pm on Friday, March 28.

A reception to celebrate the SCNY Members' Exhibition will be held on Thursday, April 3, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.

Historic Black & White Exhibition, January 27 - February 14, 2014

The Salmagundi Club is proud to announce its 136th historic Annual Black and White Exhibition. This show is a juried members' exhibition of black and white or monochromatic sepia drawings, graphics, photographs, paintings, and sculpture by artist members. Admission is free to all visitors. The galleries are open to the public daily, Mon-Fri 4-9pm, Sat & Sun 1-5pm.

The focus of the Black and White Exhibition is to display not only the very finest work of Salmagundi artists but also the unique effect of an exhibition that features only works in black and white or monochrome sepia. The diversity of styles and media coupled with the dozens of powerful works on display will appeal to all artistic tastes and is not to be missed. Held annually since 1878, the Black & White Exhibition has in the past included great American artists such as William M. Chase, Thomas Moran, John Singer Sargent, and James M. Whistler.

Local Landscapes Exhibition, October 1, 2011

The east end of Long Island is legendary for its unique light and lush seaside landscapes which captivated William Merritt Chase and Thomas Moran. Grenning Gallery of Sag Harbor will be honoring this tradition with its "Local Landscapes" group show on October 1. Thomas Shelford will be participating in this group exhibition of plein air landscapes painted in the Hamptons.

This year's show features Grenning's top-tier artists such as Ramiro, Ben Fenske, Nelson H. White, Paul Rafferty, and Marc Dalessio. The show includes local stars of landscape painting such as James Daga Albinson and Beth Rundquist as well as a contingent of top Florence Academy of Art alumni including Melissa Franklin Sanchez and Leo Mancini-Hresko. Greg Horwitch and Billy Rayner will also be showing recent work.

This ongoing exhibition will feature recent still life paintings which have been selected as part of the Art In Embassies Program. The paintings by Thomas Shelford, which comprise a modern interpretation of traditional Dutch still life, will be on loan to the collection of Ambassador Fay Hartog-Levin for 3 years and displayed in the public rooms of the embassy residence.

Monotype Print Collection, September 1, 2011

A monotype print by Thomas Shelford has been selected for addition to the permanent collection of the Salmagundi Club. This print of a nude figure entitled "Allison" will be exhibited in the historic bar and restaurant of the Club for several months.

The Club owns a collection of over 1,500 works of art spanning its 140 year history and has a membership of nearly 850 artists and patrons. Its members have included important American artists such as Thomas Moran, William Merritt Chase, Louis Comfort Tiffany, N.C. Wyeth and Childe Hassam. Today the Club builds on this legacy by providing a center for the resurgence of representational art in America.

Springs Improvement Society Exhibition, August 5 - 21, 2011

Curator Esperanza León of SOLAR Gallery has selected a painting by Thomas Shelford for this 44th Annual Exhibition to benefit the Springs Improvement Society. This popular and renowned exhibition has a history dating back to the 1950s, in the heyday of the Abstract Expressionists who made Springs their home. All works are for sale and 50% of the proceeds go to the SIS Scholarship Fund. This year's exhibition will also be accompanied by several special events, including a preview benefit, an evening of readings, and a curator's tour.

This solo exhibition in the upstairs gallery of the Deshuk River Studio will be preceded by a figure drawing demonstration. The exhibit will feature paintings and drawings of the human form coupled with abstract geometric elements, as well as summer landscapes. The show is being curated by Daria Deshuk, a celebrated impresario of the Hamptons art scene and partner of the late artist Larry Rivers.
